Retrofitting is the process of modernizing or improving an existing piece of equipment, system or vehicle by adding newer components, functionalities or technologies. In the automotive context, retrofitting involves updating or modifying an existing vehicle to incorporate new features, performance enhancements or advanced technologies that were not available at the time of its initial manufacture.

This can include the installation of new navigation, connectivity, safety, comfort or energy efficiency systems. Retrofitting gives vehicle owners access to modern features without having to buy a new vehicle.

In a nutshell, retrofitting involves updating an existing piece of equipment or vehicle to make it more efficient, safer, more comfortable or better adapted to current needs.

First of all, and most importantly for us, there’s the ecological aspect. According to a study by Transport & Environment, an electric vehicle in Europe is 3 times less polluting (less in France, thanks to nuclear energy) throughout its life cycle than a combustion-powered vehicle. Retrofits are 2 times less polluting than new electric vehicles.

The elimination of fuel costs is one of the major economic benefits of retrofitting a combustion vehicle. Since electricity is cheaper than petrol or diesel, electric vehicles generally have lower operating costs than those using these fossil fuels…

What’s more, maintenance costs can also be reduced with a converted electric vehicle. Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts and components that are less subject to wear and tear, which means less need for maintenance and costly repairs (no oil changes, no broken turbo, no problems with injectors or head gaskets).

Extend the life of your vehicle. Collector vehicles, in particular, are often faced with problems of wear and supply of complex mechanical parts, such as the engine or transmission. With Retrofit, these are replaced by new electronic components, eliminating most of these problems.

Your vehicle must meet certain conditions to be eligible for conversion: it must run on petrol or diesel, be at least 5 years old, pass the roadworthiness test, be in a satisfactory state of original configuration and be registered in France.

Our company offers conversions of commercial vehicles and high-end SUVs, specifically :

Land Rover Range Rover Classic, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Ford Ranger, Ford Transit 2T and Ford Transit Custom.

Our conversions take place within 48 hours, but the process may vary if it’s a special order.

It’s a bit different from filling up at the pump, it’s something new but not so much! You charge your vehicle as you would your smartphone: just plug in a cable and that’s it, anyone can do it.

The charging process is exactly the same as for a conventional electric car. Our converted vehicles can be recharged with standard alternating current (AC) from any electrical outlet, or with fast direct current (DC) from recharging stations.
